Le programme ApprentissÂge regroupe diverses activités communautaires auxquels participent mes élèves depuis dix ans. Ces activités de bénévolat prédisposent à la compassion,
à l'empathie et surtout renforcent le sentiment d'appartenance à la classe et au quartier.

One strategy was to reach out to the community surrounding our school and to get it involved in our kids education. We decided to use the skills of today's students by having them teach Web 2.0
to senior citizens in the community and to teachers at our school. We use students as experts. Students come to school with enough knowledge about technology to guide adults into a transition.
This program called SWAET (Students Willing to Assist Elders with Technology) engages students even more in their learning and helps them realize what they are capable of with
what they learn in class. We want them to feel the need to come into class each day. This approach is based on Self-Determination Theory (SDT), and addresses major needs for students like
connection, self-esteem, and task value.
Our 11-12 year old students help adults use computers in school and get at ease with multimedia tools linked to the Internet. This has quickly became a
way to increase social responsibility among students. It helps reach early adopters and increase people's interest towards the project inside the school.
Older adults are one of the fastest growing Internet user groups today (Pew Research Center, 2012). Students in iClasse are aware of the unique obstacles when teaching computer skills
to older adults. Elders actually benefit from acquiring social networking and computer related skills. Internet usage offers lifelong learning opportunities, enhances their emotional
relationship with families and friends, and assists them in remaining actively engaged in society.
